the dude's got 'tude

we had a gargantuan thunderstorm this afternoon. so while ellie was napping, jack and i decided to take some pictures. this was after the huge tickle tag game we played and all of my energy was sucked from my body. that always seems to happen around 2 o'clock whether we've played tickle tag or not.

anyways, this boy has some serious attitude!
work it jackman!
he is so silly and its fun to see his imagination at work

i dont know where all of his facial expressions come from :)

jack took these while i was in the middle of telling him all the facts
i know about lightening. as it turns out, i dont know as much as i thought i did.

i know photo shop could work miracles on my beautiful skin, but im too lazy to figure out all that jazz. i'll have to ask carolina for some classes so i can learn all the tricks!

this morning we had our friends over to make "stained glass windows". they turned out really cute. we just stuck tissue paper onto some contact paper. very simple and hardly any mess involved! as i mentioned before, i took these picture while there was a storm so the sun didnt shine through them very well. usually they radiate with brilliance :)

and this was just a little project we did a couple weeks ago. it too would be a great one to keep little people entertained during a rainy day. we made our own aquariums by cutting and gluing fish and all sorts of sea creatures to some construction paper, and then covered it with plastic wrap to make it look like glass. the kids really had fun with this one.

right now i'm working on another big project, along with sewing the kids halloween costumes (peter pan and tinker bell), so i'll post some of those pictures when they are all done.
we are very excited for tomorrow. chris is returning from a 5 day golfing expedition to ohio (or as ellie calls it, Nohio). im glad he was able to do something fun during his week off between school semesters... but we are all very anxious to have him home!

pure nonsense

every friday there's this guy that comes and cuts our grass. the kids and i go outside, watch him for a little while, and eat a popsicle. then the kids cant contain themselves and they chase him down, staining their feet and ankles bright green from the freshly cut grass. its a lot of fun for me and the kids. im not sure how much our lawn man likes it, but oh well!
during the summer, our yard is like a jungle. it is chris' nemesis. in order for it to actually look nice, he would have to tackle it twice a week. but who has time for that??? not him, thats for sure. he listens to his lectures on his phone while he mows... killing two birds with one stone. what a multi-tasker!

i usually say some silly thing like "hey hot stuff" as he passes by, but only because i know he cant hear me :) in fact, i dont think he knows i do that.

jack has made up a little game while they mow. he runs in front of the lawn mower (totally safe, i know) and waits for chris to catch him at the end of the row. occasionally chris will scare him and come running full speed at him and jack thinks its the greatest/scariest thing in the entire world.
its not all that exciting, but since i havent thrown in any videos lately, enjoy

ellie's teeth arent always red, dont worry. its just from her popsicle.

jack has been wearing his goggles in the bath tub lately. so naturally, we have a few towels laying on the floor at all times to soak up the inevitable splashes. he just doesnt grasp the fact that a bath tub and a pool are two different things.

the kids have been VERY entertained lately by making faces. this is one of the things that i enjoy about having kids that are only 15 months apart. they entertain each other and are best buds. here are a ton of silly faces. brace yourself.

ahhh, the face only a mother could love...

sh sh sh-sugar!

the past week or so has been very busy with important things like:

sleepovers at grandmas

swimming

going to the park with friends
(which is still WAY too hot...come on fall!)

putting together our 72 hour kits that have been sitting on our spare table for, oh, a couple months. i guess hurricane season doesnt frighten me as much as it should

story time at the library

playing with cousin everett

organizing closets and deep cleaning

but i havent been good at taking pictures along the way. today we had some friends over to decorate sugar cookies and was able to snap a few shots of the cute kiddos.

by the way, these are katie smith's family recipe "cream cookies" and are divine! thanks katie!!! although, i still cant make them as good as she can. i guess you have to be part of the family to add that 'something special' to the recipe :)

we had ducks, circles, stars and fish to decorate
our cast of characters:

ellie
the picture above is the only one i really took of the cookies because the kids were just so sweet- awww! no seriously, its the only one i took of the decorated cookies, but they all pretty much looked just like this one... mountain high with sprinkles!

thanks everybody for coming over and satisfying my sweet tooth with sugar cookies and adorable little people!

and just for fun, this is what ellie looked like when she woke up from her nap this afternoon. can you say "david bowie early 90's?"

she wasnt thrilled about having her pictures taken first thing
what a cute little monkey
