halloween 2018

halloween: the most wonderful time of the year!

grandpa Dave and got to watch the annual elementary school parade on the Friday before halloween. he wanted to be a turtle again. when I asked him why he wanted to be a turtle again he said "mom! you have NO IDEA how fun it is to be a turtle!"
he's right, I have no idea.

this is a big event for the community I guess and because of that they decided to do it even though it was raining! poor kids! they all loved it though

our neighborhood has a fun tradition of having a theme that the entire neighborhood decorates around and then the kids trick or treat the Friday before halloween. that way the entire neighborhood is free to do whatever they want on halloween and not feel tied down to passing candy out at home.
this years theme was perfect for our family: Harry Potter!
I had big plans to turn one of our front trees into the whomping willow, complete with Arthur Weasley's ford anglia, floating candles on the front porch and dobby in one of the windows! unfortunately, I didn't end up having time to make the car. I was feeling sad about that until the day of the neighborhood party... it was raining and the cardboard car would've been a mess! plus, no one else decorated! I couldn't believe it! they had made so much hype about it leading up to it and then we were the only ones that decorated!

I forgot to take a picture of our floating candles, but here's our adorable dobby in the window that is now a permanent decoration :) grateful for dad's help getting that vinyl dobby up because I would've struggled without him! thanks pops!

grandpa and Chris braved the freezing rain with the kids while I passed out candy.

grandpa wanted to carve pumpkins while he was in town and im proud to announce that they are still on our front steps, completely frozen!

we tried to roast pumpkin seeds, some with salt and some with brown sugar and cinnamon and then we forgot about them...

Owen and Charlie, taking a Sunday nap in the living room with the pumpkins before we moved them outside. great idea, boys!

grandma linda sent us a musical halloween card and Owen would race out of bed each morning to play it and dance. it was so cute to watch the joy on his face each time!

owen's preschool also did a costume parade on halloween. he was a baseball player and was adorable.

halloween night!!!

Harry Potter, batman, professor trelawney, bellatrix lestrange, and Sirius black (or Sirius jack as we all called him through out the night lol)

we LOVE being near cousins again! Amy and Tyler's family, plus DeLauna and grandpa and grandma Brower all came to Granville to trick or treat and have dinner afterwards and we had a BLAST!

our little village goes all out for halloween and people come from all over for it! it was really fun, but it was SO packed! not sure we'll do it again any time soon. our kids are at the stage where they want to see how much candy they can get and with this much traffic, it was hard to cover a lot of area. but it was really neat and looked like it was straight out of one of those halloween movies.

while walking through the village we passed a group of adults dressed up as dumbledore, Mcgonagall, Hagrid, Voldemort, and Snape and when we saw each other we were all like "Hey! how's it going!" it was super funny!!! wish we would've taken a picture with them because their costumes were legit and we definitely had a moment haha!

afterwards we came home and the kids had a major training party while we warmed up some soup and cooked our traditional mummy dogs!

this picture that DeLauna took of Chris and grandma taking pictures cracks me up!

happy halloween 2018!
