we had a very busy spring, even though we tried not to get busy again when quarantine lifted... kinda impossible with 4 kids.
jack had an incredible soccer season and archery too, Ellie crushed lacrosse, Charlie bravely tried something new and started karate, and Owen finally reunited with his true love: t-ball.
jack had a really good season. he created some strong bonds with a few teammates and we are grateful they are excellent kids. jack also received his first ever yellow card for sliding into a goalie. it was accidental and the ref (and goalie knew) but rules are rules.
jack's coach (with the hat in the team pic) was very impressed with Jack. after finding out that he is a member of the church, he started having many little "coincidences" running into missionaries and other friends who are members. by the end of the season he told us that he thinks he wants to try attending church. it was a cool experience for jack and strengthened his desire to always be a good example.
chris managed to get ahold of two soccer goals from a coworker who helps run a small park in Johnstown. he said if we could take them apart and haul them that we could have them. SCORE!
Cousin Madeline happened to have a softball game at the same time and park that jack had a soccer game, so aunt Amy, Madeline and Mason were able to watch jack play for a bit. I love living close to family!!! these two are best buds.
jack is currently doing 3 weightlifting workouts a week along with 3 practices a week with the high school team in hopes of making the JV team this fall. its very competitive here and jack is a little worried since so many kids around here have played club soccer their whole lives, but we know he can do it. really hoping his friends are also on the team this fall.
Ellie had a great LAX season playing midfield. being a midi is exhausting cause they run the whole field, plus they do the face offs. it definitely takes time to develop those skills, but Ellie is doing awesome.
her team didn't have the best season, but she had a great time with her best friends, Abby and Liv. plus, we went to whit's after the final game of the season, which they won! fun way to end a rough season.
here is the only pic we have of Charlie at karate, doing wheelbarrows with a teenage girl lol!
we are so proud of him for trying something new. one of his goals this year was to try karate, so he's been working hard. they only meet once a week, but a requirement is to practice 15 min a day in order to be eligible to do any advancement testing. karate has not come easily for him, but he has persevered! after getting his gi, learning to spar, and practicing for several more weeks, his sensei said he is almost ready to test for yellow belt. we are proud of his hard work!
this kid quickly earned the nickname Big O from his coaches. he can throw and hit like a pro! he learned how to slide this year and loved it.
every time up to bat his coaches yelled "big hitter! back up and be ready!". they pitched to him rather than using the t.
owen's coaches often asked Charlie to come help coach a base at the games, which he loved doing.
after seeing his older sibling's, Owen has wanted a medal or a trophy for so long and it was finally his turn!
our friends, the Argyle's, take the sports and school pictures in the area and they have used Owen as a model in the past for school picture ads. this year they used his tball pic to give to all the sponsors to put up in their businesses, which he loved.
