someone turned 8....!!!

Charlie was born two days after Christmas.
everyone told me that I needed to go above and beyond for his birthdays because having it so close to Christmas was pretty much the worst thing ever. I remember worrying that day about it and thinking of ways I could make it special for him without killing myself because hello, its two days after Christmas! but I should've known that day not to worry about it because that little baby was the most relaxed, calm, easy going baby in the history of the world. basically, he was the best. and he continues to be the best, most relaxed kid, so I never have to go above and beyond.... except for his cake. he always wants a very specific cake and plans it out a month or two in advance and I am most happy to oblige him on his special day!

he woke up to the usual birthday balloons in his room and banners in the kitchen.

I printed off a few baby pictures for us to all ooh and awe over throughout the day! he was the chubbiest, most silky-skinned babe. man I miss baby Charlie!

Ellie cut out a bunch of 8's to decorate the tree with so it was a birthday tree instead of a Christmas tree!

Charlie is so loved! so many loved ones sent cards and gifts. it was a great start to his day, opening all those notes of love, thank you all!!!

after waffles for breakfast, we drove into the city for a fun day.
our first stop was to see the Columbus temple while we waited for cousins to join us for stop number 2.... a tour of a chocolate factory!

we met up with Amy and her kids, aunt Jenny who was visiting from Utah, Delauna, Morgan, Chris, and babies abby and Kate at the Anthony Thomas Chocolate factory.
get it?
Charlie and the chocolate factory!

we saw this ginormous buckeye on display.
this 235 pound beauty can be yours for only $3500.

our tour was awesome and made us crave chocolate! so we bought a couple small things to enjoy in the car on our way to our next stop...

we met up with Chris at Costco where Charlie was able to open up a gift...

a trip with daddy to Legoland for the afternoon!

the Legoland here is attached to the lego store. it isn't like Legoland in Florida, although it does have two rides. Charlie and Chris had a great time together and then headed home for homemade pizzas and birthday cake!

Charlie requested a Dogman birthday cake that was Oreo flavored.

chocolate cake with an Oreo buttercream filling. yum!

Charlie had a great day...
but it didn't end there!

he was able to go to his first cub scout meeting on January 2nd...

and we celebrated Charlie on January 5th for his baptism!!!
