summer vacation 2021: Jackson Hole, Rexburg, Birthdays, & Goodbyes

Reed and I both had birthdays while we were in Idaho!
unfortunately, Daniel tested positive for covid so we tried to social distance since we were visiting so many people during our trip. but chris can not be kept from smoking and when Reed got a new smoker for his special day, he couldn't resist helping Reed break it in!

for my birthday, Ellie, Grandma and I joined Cathy who makes lunch for the homeless on a regular basis with some of her friends. Ellie and grandma were in charge of making countless batches of Rice Krispie treats!
afterwards we met up with Elena and had an amazing lunch together downtown. it was an amazing birthday!

Jackson hole!

Rexburg!

we went to Rexburg a couple different times. first we took the kids to walk around campus, then chris and I went and did a session at the temple (!!!!!), then jack, chris and Dayton went golfing, then we went with Bo's family to do the ropes course on campus (so incredibly fun!).

saying goodbye is always THE WORST

we decided to stop to get some square ice cream on the way out of Idaho to soften the blow of leaving our loved ones

and we finally spotted a mama bear and two cubs!!!
we were the first to spot them and pull over and by the time we drove away, both sides of the street were lined with cars and chris had met many of the people, mr social butterfly.

I stayed safe by the car and enjoyed eating the best treat from the west: chocolate covered cinnamon bears
