dusting off the cobwebs

 it's been a while.

I've thought about ending my run as a blogger, but considering that the kids read our Brower Hour books multiple times a week, I think its time to dust off the cobwebs off this ol' blog and do a couple quick updates.

we've done a lot in the last 6 months, including what felt like the longest winter in the history of ever. but I'm not going to spend much time writing about all we've been busy doing. instead I'll just post pictures and let everyone fill in the blanks.

random stop on a frozen lake near Mt Vernon

lots and lots of snow days

super bowl 2021

Owen was treated for warts all over his little hands. its been going on for months and they still aren't gone. warts = the worst.

valentines day fondue party

our girl turned 13!
celebrated with friends and went ice skating

her friend liv brought two Publix key lime pies all the way from Florida!

Wednesday night activities started back up in February, with a big service project where I taught the YW how to sew.

church continued at home until June.

septic tank issues. we are still trying to figure out what to do, but most options cost $20,000+ unfortunately.

st patty's day gold nugget hike

we found signs of spring!!!

sewing project with Ellie and one of my YW

chris built a little temporary fire pit out of some rocks behind the house. its been enjoyed a ton this spring and summer

one of my YW is serving in California (Spanish speaking) and was able to teach a couple lessons to us while doing MTC at home.

spring break 2021

our plans to go to Palymra, Niagra Falls, and Toronto were foiled again due to covid. we decided to do things around Columbus and amish country instead.

April fools prank on dad... Ellie got him good!

pierogies

hershberger farm for Bunny Day!!! best day of our lives pretty much

this barn had hundreds of bunnies and you could stay as long as you wanted and catch bunnies hiding in every nook and cranny. dreams do come true!

easter morning, finding baskets

I won our egg cracking game and jack won cascarones!

Easter egg hunt outside! still weird to me after years of Florida egg hunts indoors so the chocolate wouldn't melt haha

we planted apple trees from the local apple farm, Lynds. we have 2 honey crisp, 1 fuji, pink lady, crimson crisp, liberty, and a Granny Smith. We've also ordered a couple more varieties that we will get in the fall. we don't expect them all to succeed, which is why chris decided to order a few more varieties. can't wait for summer/fall of 2024-2026 haha. Owen also planted a sugar maple sapling that he got from school. it wasn't looking good, so chris bought a bigger sapling and planted where the original one was and moved the original one saying that he bought a new one... all hoping Owen would have a good and successful experience. well, it turns out the original one that Owen thinks is not his is actually doing a bit better than the replacement at this point lol!

of course we had a couple late snows because this winter was the pits.

our other trees sure make me happy in the spring! not sure what this one is, but she smells delightful when in bloom!

our amazing neighbors had their grandkids living with them this winter/spring. Owen and Lily became great buddies!

date nights with Marc and DeLauna are a favorite

Ellie put together a game night and we all ended up crammed into her tiny bedroom playing Pictionary and uno for a couple hours and we actually had a great time with minimal fighting!

in April we finally said goodbye to our faithful van that took us on so many adventures across this great country.
it was surprisingly sad to say farewell to "the cherry pearl".
